axi0search

We don’t care who you are or what you do. We care that it works.

What it does

Your search is sent, by us, to several engines at once (Brave, Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Wikipedia and others). We merge what comes back, strip the tracking parameters from the links, and show you the list. The engines see our server, not you.

What we keep

Your searchesNot written down. The web server in front of this page keeps no access log at all, and searches are sent as form posts, so a query is never in a web address or a referrer.
Your addressSeen only by a rate limiter that stops bots from using this site as a free proxy; it lives in memory for minutes and is never stored on disk.
An accountThere is none. Preferences are a cookie in your browser; delete it and nothing is left anywhere.
My searchOnly if you make an axi0 Key on My search: your topics, trusted sources, saved searches and, if you turn it on, your history go into one locker, encrypted in your browser with your Key before they leave it. We hold ciphertext we cannot read, with no name, address or e-mail attached, and it is deleted after the sunset you choose. Lose the Key and nobody can open it, us included.
ThumbnailsFetched by our server, so your browser never talks to a result site until you click it.
AutocompleteOff by default, because sending every keystroke to a provider is the opposite of the point. You can turn it on in preferences.

One honest caveat: the edge network that protects this site from attacks terminates the encrypted connection, so it can see traffic in transit; our own servers do not log it. Serving search without that middle layer is on our list.

Built with

axi0 search is built with SearXNG, the open-source metasearch engine (AGPL-3.0). We run it unmodified; the look and the launcher are ours and sit in front of it. Source code of the engine: github.com/searxng/searxng.

Use it from the address bar

Most browsers can add this site as a search engine from its OpenSearch description: in Firefox, right-click the address bar on this site and choose “Add axi0 search”; in Chrome, Settings → Search engine → Manage → Add, with https://search.axi0.io/search?q=%s.

Part of axi0

Search is one of the axi0 products: the nine-dot button at the top right of every page lists the others.
