Store locator
A store finder for your website, on our own maps. Your locations on a map, a search box for a town, an address or a ZIP code, the nearest first, who is open now, and directions in the maps app your visitor picks. Their location stays in their browser, and there is no outside map bill.
- One line on your site. A small script and a box for it to fill; it fits a phone and follows light and dark.
- Your stores in one file. A spreadsheet saved as CSV, or JSON. You change the file, the map follows.
- Counted, not watched. We count page loads per client per day for the monthly plan, and nothing about the people who visit.
Try it
Pocket Comet Bakeshop is a made-up chain of 25 bakeries in and around Austin, Texas: invented addresses, phone numbers from the range kept for fiction. Search 78704, Round Rock or Cedar Park, or tick Open now. On your site a Near me button also sorts the list by the visitor's own location; this page keeps location switched off for now, so the button stays hidden here.
In this demo the search box answers from a small table of Austin-area ZIP codes and towns. On your site it asks our place search, which finds towns, neighborhoods and ZIP codes across the United States and in 120 more countries. Five of the bakeries deliver: pick one to see its delivery area, and the line under the search box says who delivers to the place you searched.
Make yours
Drop your store list here to see it on the map and get the code for your site. The file is read in this browser and never uploaded.
1. Your file
No file at hand? Download our sample CSV, change it, and drop it back.
2. How it looks
3. The code for your site
We send you YOUR_KEY and YOUR_CLIENT when we set your site up: the key works only on your site's address. Put stores.json on your site (or send it to us and we host it).
Your file's columns
Headers can be written the way your spreadsheet already has them: "Store Name", "Zip", "Latitude" and the like are understood.
| Column | What goes in it | Example |
|---|---|---|
| name | The store's name (needed) | Pocket Comet Zilker |
| lat, lon | Where it is, in degrees (needed for the map) | 30.2549, -97.7636 |
| address, city, region, postcode | The address people see and copy | 1200 Comet Row, Austin, TX 78704 |
| phone | A number to call | +1 512-555-0101 |
| hours | Opening hours: days, then times; a day can be "off" | Mo-Fr 07:00-19:00; Sa 08:00-16:00; Su off or Mon-Fri 7am-7pm; Sat 8am-4pm |
| url | The store's own page | https://example.com/zilker |
| timezone | Only when stores sit in different time zones | America/Denver |
| delivery_radius | Delivers within this many miles (or kilometers) | 3 |
| delivery_area | JSON files only: a drawn area as a GeoJSON polygon | {"type": "Polygon", ...} |
What we set up for you
- Your list, checked. We read your spreadsheet, place every store on the map and turn your opening hours into ones the locator reads.
- A key for your site. Our map tiles and place search answer only on your site's address.
- The code, on your page. We paste it with you or your web person, and check it on a phone and a computer.
- Changes later. New store, new hours: change the file and the map follows.
Price on request
A one-time setup, then a monthly plan for the maps. Ask about it and name "Store locator" in the form's last box.
What it keeps
- Near me asks the browser for the visitor's location and uses it there to sort the list. It is never sent to us or to anyone: the map moves to the nearest stores, not to the visitor.
- A search sends the words typed (a town, an address, a ZIP code) to our place search, which answers and keeps no record of the question.
- Counting: each page load adds one to your site's count for the day. No cookie, no address, no device details: just the number.
- Your file on this page stays in your browser. When you go live, your store list is as public as your website.
